Time Out Tokyo produces English-language leaflet for Beams Japan
Together with Beams Japan, we produced an English-language leaflet that recaps Beams’ 50-year history and introduces the philosophy behind Beams Japan’s curation-led approach for sharing Japanese culture with an international audience.
Shared values between Beams Japan and Time Out Tokyo
- A commitment to storytelling: valuing the stories behind products and experiences
- The responsibility of curation: the role that rigorous, high-quality selection plays in an age of information overload
- Encouraging discovery and adventure: creating opportunities for audiences in Japan and abroad to encounter the many-sided richness of Japanese culture
- Supporting makers and creators: championing the artisans, producers and artists who underpin Japan’s cultural economy
The leaflet contains a detailed guide to the five floors of the flagship Beams Japan store in Shinjuku, and an in-depth interview with creative director Shuji Suzuki. It also explores the challenges facing Japan’s traditional crafts, Beams Japan’s vision for a future built together with producers, and the value of Japanese culture seen from a global perspective.
The press release is available here (in Japanese).
