A journey into wellbeing: ‘Time Out Japan Magazine’ issue 5 is out on August 31
Performing artist Aoi Yamada on the cover — a special issue in collaboration with The HOTEL Well-hub Haneda, an activity-focused hotel by the Tama River in Kawasaki
ORIGINAL Inc., operator of Time Out Japan, will publish issue 5 of ‘Time Out Japan Magazine’ — a magazine proposing new lifestyles that connect travel and everyday life — on Monday, August 31, 2026, in Japanese and English editions. The theme of this issue is wellbeing, and performing artist Aoi Yamada appears on the cover. Created as a special issue in collaboration with The HOTEL Well-hub Haneda, an activity-focused hotel that reopened under a new brand on July 6 by the Tama River in Kawasaki, close to Haneda Airport, it proposes journeys into nature and culture across Japan.
A base for adventurous travellers: seven pages on The HOTEL Well-hub Haneda
The issue devotes seven pages to The HOTEL Well-hub Haneda, which Tokyu Hotels & Resorts reopened under a new brand on July 6, 2026. Located along the Tama River in Kawasaki, Kanagawa, about 10 minutes by car from Haneda Airport, the hotel lets guests enjoy adventures in Japan’s natural landscapes and experiences unique to the metropolis, all from a single base.
Stays are all-inclusive, with morning yoga and karate classes led by specialist instructors, Japanese tea workshops, and DJ and live music events at night. Guests can also book kayaking tours at the mouth of the Tama River, golf and cycling along the riverbank, and surf trips to the Shonan area, known as one of Japan’s premier surfing spots.
The magazine also introduces nature-activity destinations to visit with the hotel as a base, inviting readers on journeys into Japan’s natural beauty, from Hakuba to Okinawa.
Aoi Yamada on the cover: is her ideal of wellbeing an eggplant?
The cover features Aoi Yamada, one of the most closely watched performing artists today. From the Netflix series ‘First Love’ and Wim Wenders’ film ‘Perfect Days’ to ‘EBIZAZEN’, the collected works of the creative collective Ebizazen to which she belongs, her expression has surely caught your heart somewhere in recent years.
How does someone with so many faces keep her own balance? We asked her about the secret of her wellbeing, and the admiration for vegetables and plants that flows at its root.
A Kawasaki area guide for enjoying local life as it is
The issue also includes a guide to the Kawasaki area, where the hotel is located. From an appealing town where historic sights, unpretentious eateries and deep local bars intermingle, Time Out Tokyo’s English-language editorial team picked out their favourite spots.
Autumn art and music festivals, plus ‘The 10 best places to visit in Japan right now’
In addition, the issue features art and music festivals across Japan to visit this autumn, selected by the Time Out Tokyo editorial team with the latest trends in mind, as well as ‘The 10 best places to visit in Japan right now’, a curated list of the most exciting spots of the moment.
The English edition of ‘Time Out Japan Magazine’ will be distributed free of charge at commercial facilities, airports, hotels and Time Out Market Osaka in major cities across Japan. The Japanese edition will be distributed at The HOTEL Well-hub Haneda and its affiliated facilities. All articles will also be available on the web and in the digital edition from the publication date.
